At 9:40 AM PST we were alerted that our New Jersey location was suffering
a network outage. Initial tests showed that the issue wasn't choopa's
router but infact ours. Francisco quickly used an out-of-band management port
and was able to pin-point the cause of failure to the E1000 driver in
FreeBSD deadlocking and refusing to route any packets.
A reboot was
issued and everything was brought back online within 10 minutes.
We're
currently working to install a different network card in the router that
doesn't use the E1000 driver/chipset, allowing us to move back to a Vyatta
based platform without fear of interrupt floods.
We apologize for the
inconvenience caused, and thank you for your patience while we resolved the
issue. Once we have an ETA on when the router will be moved back to the
Vyatta platform (which will involve a short network downtime during the
switch-over), we will announce the scheduled date
and time.
